Sometimes you need a parking spot.

But it turns out lakes aren’t the best place for parking spots. Even in winter. And especially if you’re driving a multi-ton truck.

Well, someone in Ontario learned this the hard way, as York Regional Police had to remove a truck out of thin ice this week.

Two tow trucks and a lot of dollars later, the truck was finally pulled out of the water.

So how much does it cost you exactly? “A smooth $3000,” according to York Regional Police.

“That’s one way to lower your back end,” they said, sharing images of the truck. “It took two tow trucks, 1,000 feet of cable and a smooth $3,000 to grab this RAM by the horns. Ice was 18″ thick on Lake Simcoe, but only 4″ where the truck was parked.”

No injuries were reported after the truck went into the water.

Stay on land, everyone.
