There’s been another escalation to try and limit the spread of COVID-19 in our country. Canada travel advisory against all non-essential international travel amid the pandemic. So you should reconsider any plans to leave the country at least until 2021.
On April 21, it was announced that the government decides to cancel any non-essential travel until 2021.
According to the government that a full travel ban has been ruled out and will make any further decisions based on science and the advice of healthcare professionals.
Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, said the government is also advising all travellers from all countries to self-isolate for 14 days after they return to Canada.
During a separate press conference, she said that the travel advisory “means reconsidering your vacations. By making the choice to stay at home and not travel outside of Canada, you are protecting yourself, your family and doing your part to slow the spread of the virus.”
She also said that it’s time for events to be cancelled.
This is a significant upgrade from earlier travel advisories that were country-specific and regarding cruise ship travel.
More to come.
